Programs for Teens

Check the online calendar of events or stop in at the library front desk for more information about programs and events. Attendance at any of the library events indicates permission for the Ocean Shores Public Library to use photographs or videos taken of you or your children for the purpose of promoting the library and its services. Programs for all ages are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ocean Shores Public Library.

 

Teen Summer Reading Program: Choose Your Own Adventure @ the LibraryChoose your own Adventure @ the Library
Tuesday, June 16th - Friday, August 14th

Students who are going to be in grades 7-12, are invited to participate in the Teen Summer Reading Program.

Sign up, get a book bag with fun stuff inside, and start reading to earn prizes. Come to the fun events each month.


 

Ice Cream Float Bar Teen Summer Reading Kick Off Party
Friday, June 19th, 5:00 - 6:00 PM

Teens who are going into 7-12 grade are invited to learn more about the Teen Summer Reading Program: Choose Your Own Adventure @ Your Library.

There will be games, activities, and an ice cream float bar! Choose from different sodas, vanilla ice cream, toppings, and construct your perfect ice cream float.


 

VR Virtual Reality (VR)
Saturday, June 20th, 1:00 - 4:00 PM

A whole world of immersive experiences awaits! Come experience VR, whether it’s kayaking through whitewater rapids, a walk on the beach, fishing around the world, or spelunking in deep dark caves, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Please call or visit the library to reserve your experience.
Walk-ins welcome, but subject to availability.

AGES 13 AND UP.


 

Apple GalaApple Gala - All Ages
Friday, June 26th, 2:00 - 4:00 PM

Apple Pie
Enjoy a slice of apple pie and a sip of apple cider during the festivities and check out all these wonderful events!

Children's Craft Station
There will be a craft station where children can make a Handprint Apple Tree and a fun Lifecycle of an Apple booklet!

Snowbird Cidery - Cider Press
We will take the first steps in the cider making process by grinding and pressing apples into sweet, natural cider. We will begin by scratting (grinding) the apples into a fine pomace that we will then press into juice using a hydropress. There is nothing quite like fresh pressed apple cider.

Apple Treasure Hunt
Come learn about apples and enter our contest to win a Gift Certificate. It’s a treasure hunt to find the facts about apples and their history in America. The answers are scattered throughout the event. Correct entry forms have a chance to win one of three IGA gift certificates. All are invited to participate in this free, educational contest. The drawing is at 3:30pm.

Rayven the Clown
Rayven the Clown is ready to make you smile and tickle your funny bone. Children of ALL ages are invited to meet a real clown for a special balloon animal and lots of laughs! Get ready for more fun than you could shake a rubber chicken at!

Guess the Apple Variety
Is it Cosmic Crisp, Fuji, Lemonade, Golden Delicious or Granny Smith? Taste a sample and guess.


 

Dungeons & DragonsD&D Game Night
Fridays from 4:30 - 7:30 PM. June 26th.
(No D&D 6/19, 7/3 or 7/10)

Want to play Dungeons and Dragons but don't have group of people to play with? The library has all the materials you'll need to play, all you need to bring is a desire to adventure! This program is open to everyone ages 10 and older. No prior experience with D&D is required, players of all experience levels are welcome!


 

Book Sale Friends of the Library (FOL) Big Book Sale
Saturday, July 3rd, 10:00 - 11:00 AM (Members Only), 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Public Sale)
Sunday, July 4th, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Public Sale)

Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 PM there will be a $5 bag sale!

Book sales are held in the Library Meeting Room. Books of all genres will be available for purchase. Great deals on books, DVDS, audio books, games etc. Proceeds support library programs for all ages.

Donations are welcome!

There is also an ongoing, honor system book sale during all library open hours in the library meeting room.


 

Introduction to Square Dancing Introduction to Square Dancing
Monday, July 6th, 7:00 - 9:00 PM

First Monday of every month.

Join us for a fun and friendly introduction to square dancing - no experience (or partner) needed! Featuring live instruction with a licensed caller who’ll have you dancing in under 30 minutes. Open to adults and teens!


 

Super Smash BrosTeens Video Game Tournament
Friday, July 10th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Enter the Super Smash Bros tournament! There will be prizes for the top three winners. Snacks and drinks provided. 7-12 grade students welcome.

Teen ZoneCollection Highlights : Graphic Novels

What used to be called Comic Books have graduated into Graphic Novels and the library has an extensive collection in the Young Adult Area.

A large portion of these are ‘Manga’ a very popular graphic novel style from Japan that you read backwards! There is action, romance, and fantasy. Check it out!
